Congratulations on your 15th Birthday!

The Parish community of St. Patrick’s shares your joy in celebrating the gift of life. Based upon the Native American and Hispanic ttradition we continue celebrating the 15th birthday as a time for accepting greater responsibility in the family and community. It is a transition from childhood to adulthood.

Together, we give thanks to God for your life and family in preparing for your 15th birthday celebration. Here are the answers to some of the most common questions:

What do I need to do?

Currently, there are three ways a young person can celebrate their “Quince años”.

  1. With a special blessing at any regularly scheduled Mass.
  2. In a group of 3 or more young persons.
  3. In an individual celebration on Saturday at 10 or 11:30 a.m.*
  YOUR PREPARATION WILL INCLUDE:

·        Weekly attendance at SUNDAY MASS at St. Patrick’s (at least 6 weeks prior to celebration).

·        A 4-hour RETREAT.

·        Attendance to the YOUTH GROUP Sunday from 5-7 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

·        15 hours of SERVICE to the Parish.

·        A one page thanksgiving prayer

·        A MEETING with Fr. Greg and with your parents, two month prior to the celebration.

The Eucharistic Service consists of:

    2 Readings

    A talk

Renewal of baptismal promises and reading of the thanksgiving prayer by the

      Quinceañera/o.

    Special blessing by the community

    Communion

    Presentation of the flowers

Usually the presider is a priest. However, a Deacon or other Parish Minister may preside.

Is there a Cost?
